ITE Electrical Fitting Course

Course Overview

This course will allow participants to perform electrical fitting work in a chemical process plant involving laying of electrical cables, installation of general and specialized conduits, trunking, ladders and trays to meet the safety requirements of the plants or machinery.

Participants will learn how to manufacture, fit, assemble, erect, operate, test, fault find, alter, repair electrical equipment, including electrical wiring work directly associated with assembling, maintaining, terminating or altering the wiring between electrical components within a plant or machinery.

He/she also maintains certified explosion proof lighting fittings used in the chemical process plant. He/she works under the supervision of a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) to ensure that the electrical installation and equipment in the chemical process plants are safe and in good working condition.

Course Details


At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Lay electrical cables (include low voltage armored cables) and install related components
  • Gland and terminate low voltage underground cables
  • Install electrical conduits and trunking systems (including liquid-tight and certified flexible metal conduits used in hazardous locations)
  • Perform sealing process for certified conduit systems
  • Identify and replace general and industrial certified types, damaged lamps and lamp fittings
  • Carry out routine check on low voltage motors in accordance to prescribe test procedure for process plant
